Beyond The Beach: Episode 1

At California State University, Long Beach, success is more than a goal, it’s measurable. A 2025  Wall Street Journal ranking placed the university among the top 50 colleges in the country, citing strong outcomes in career readiness and student success.

But what do those rankings actually feel like for students? Do they connect to their personal experiences?

Beyond the Beach explores that question through conversations with graduating seniors and recent alumni, asking whether they truly feel prepared to enter the workforce. While some students credit internships, campus involvement, and career resources for their confidence, others describe a more uncertain transition, learning key skills only after they’ve left college.

By bringing these perspectives together, Beyond the Beach looks beyond the numbers to understand what it really means to step into life after graduation.
